INFANT-ASTIC

We were listening to our babies chatter,
Its meaning didn’t seem to matter.
He’s much too young to start to speak
To form a word would be unique.
In which ever culture a child is bred,
Around the world I’ve heard it said,
The first word from an infants mouth
Is similar in the North or South.
As this applies to all the rest
Of children in the East or West.
The word is formed without the tongue
Not yet used by one so young.
The lips alone employed I’ve found,
To make this very welcome sound.
We were surprised when we first heard
Him say this universal word.
The first of many to come,
Our little lad had uttered…….MUM.
